Northern Patagonia Fishing Club
The Northern Patagonia Fishing Club was created with the intention of delivering a unique Argentine experience to the visiting angler, and that is does. It is located in the Alumine area of Patagonia, and can boast access to several beautiful rivers, small streams, and lakes that are seldom fished. A two hour drive from the town of San Martin, it is really off the beaten track, and lies within a quiet, rural northern zone of one of the best trout fishing regions in the country. The home base for NPFC fishing operations is their lodge on the Estancia Llamuco. This working ranch reflects the typical life style of this area and the buildings and surroundings exhibit the architectural authenticity of an earlier era of “frontier” settlement. The lodge makes for a great base for your fishing visit, and here you will enjoy the warm Argentine hospitality.
The winding Rio Aluminé and its various tributaries offer countless miles of quality fly fishing. The waters of this region are rich with insect life and offer some of the best 'match-the-hatch' sight-fishing that Patagonia has to offer. The skilled energetic guides born and raised in Aluminé are expert in the subtleties of finesse fly fishing, NPFC specialize in sight-fishing with dry flies to large feeding browns and rainbows using light rods wherever possible yet they can accommodate all fly fishing preferences. You will seldom see other anglers when fishing these waters as many are hidden up valleys and not well known by anyone but the guides.
NPFC offers a broad variety of fishing scenarios to suit all types of skill levels. There is a combination of float fishing on the Alumine, and walk wading the smaller waters during a week stay or a suggested stay of no less than 4 days of fishing in order to really experience andappreciate this special region. They also have the options of multi day floats on the Rio Alumine with over 90 miles of floatable water to enjoy. Horses are available to guests to access hard to reach waters.
Of all the Patagonia fishing destinations The Northern Patagonia Fishing Club program gives the angler a view into rural life, and a chance to fish intimate waters, and an opportunity to relax and enjoy the simpler pleasures of visiting a region of Argentina that allows you to really step back in time to what fishing in the States must have been 60 years ago.
